Summary of Research Projects
Oct. 1983 - Sept. 1984 Senior Research Associate on the Teaching, Handling Information and Learning Project based at CARE, University of East Anglia, funded by the British Library Research and Development Department - £76,000; directed by Barry MacDonald. I continued to be a member of the research team until the project was completed in September 1986.1986 -1987 Director of: Commitment in Education project funded by the University of East Anglia - £2,250.
1986 -1987 I set up a Teacher Research Group which had a membership of about 130 teachers. Several sub-groups developed school-based research which continued for many years and led to funded research.
1987 member of evaluation team for Department of Trade and Industry evaluation project lasting four months, under the direction of Barry MacDonald: D.T.I. Micros in Schools Support 1981-84 - an independent evaluation.
1988 GCSE evaluation - participated in the evaluation of local inservice training for the new exam. This was funded by the Norfolk LEA, during three months.
1988 Research and Evaluation of the Spanish Education Reforms carried out in Valadollid. I was a member of the British team under the direction of John Elliott.
1988-9 Director of the Children`s Listening and Talking Project, which grew out of the Teachers Research Group and funded by GRIST to £10,000.
1988-1990 Co-director with Barry MacDonald to the Evaluation of the National Project on Problem Solving 5-13, funded by the SCSST £48,000. I wrote the research proposal.
1989 Co-director with Barry MacDonald of the Alcohol Cultures of Secondary Aged Children, project, funded for one year by AERC, £25000 for one year. I wrote the research proposal.
1989 co-proposer and member of the evaluation team for DELTA - a research initiative in association with the Learning Technology Unit. A four month evaluation of the LTUs involvement in the European Community's DELTA programme. Funded by the LTU, £10,000.
1990 co-director with B. MacDonald, of the Culture of Arcade Gambling carried out for the Norwich Arcade Group. This was a five month project funded by a local consortia.
